GUILTY, GUILTY, GUILTY

Guilty: Text

A book of quotations can never be complete. But that's it, you're on the last page. We’ve given you our point of view. Its a point of view. It's not wrong it's not right it's just how we feel. You might not agree with everything we say. You may even think we are a massive contradiction of a magazine. That's because … we kinda are. We’ve banged on for 80 pages how it's all so unfair being a millennial. So unfair that people say where to easily offended. Yet we are so offended that we’ve bothered to make a bloody magazine about it? The irony.

We don’t exactly practice what we preach either, but we're trying. We’ve put our hands up and said that we’re guilty. Guilty of hiding behind our stereotype, guilty of slipping up and using the wrong pronouns. Eating a big mac in hiding, because well, I’m vegan. Letting your mates know, through a serious of pictures, that you're taking some time out to connect with nature via Instagram! Guilty of sharing a political Facebook post but not getting out of bed to go to a march because actually you’re probably a bit hungover?  Guilty, Guilty, Guilty … Guilty! We all are. We're shedding light on that. Giving us, the spoon-fed millennial generation, a bit of a kick in the right direction. After all “Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery” -JK Rowling, what a don.

You might not give a shit about what JK Rowling has to say. You might not give a shit about millennials, why should you? There are plenty of things going on in the world that are far bigger problems. The refugee crisis, gun laws, climate change, Brexit, Donald Trump!?! Yet I’m offended that people presume I want a unicorn neon light and a miniature cactus plant for Christmas. (Mum if your reading this, I actually really would love one) We get it, we're in a place of privilege. The ME ME ME generation just wanted a bit more ME. Boo Hoo. We know where a small fish in a big pond. We know what we're doing, and we now hope you do too.

We’ve now got our opinion on our own terms. We’ve acknowledged that the baby boomer generation believes that everything has been handed to us on a plate - that we’ve had it the easiest of any generation. They’ve disregarded the current shit show of an economic climate so that they can rid themselves of the guilt of handing over the desperate and failing world that they have created and then have the cheek to tell us how to think. No more of that. No more labels and no more uneducated presumptions. Love us or hate us, we don’t care. Think we're full of shit? Great. At least you’ve thought about it. We’ve created a conversation whether you like it or not and to be honest there's not much you can do about that one.

I'm out -

X
